Obedience And Growth

How do you measure your spiritual growth? How do you believe God measures it? Are we too concerned with how men measure our growth?

1 Samuel 15:22: And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

I believe that God*s measure of our spiritual growth is our obedience, not any outward evidence. Are we obeying Him more now than we did in years past? We might be able to fool ourselves if we use some other way to measure our growth. But we won*t fool Him. Spiritual growth is proven by growing obedience.

How often do we seek to know His will so that we might obey it? How often do we forget to seek His will? How often do we deliberately avoid seeking His will? Is seeking to know His will a habit? Is asking Him to reveal His will a habit? How often do we run ahead and obey our own will? How often are we patient enough to wait for Him to reveal His will?

Isaiah 40:31: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Among the Christians you know, do the ones who study the Bible the most grow the most?
